What Is the WIKA S-11 Flush Pressure Transmitter?

The WIKA Model S-11 is a flush diaphragm electronic pressure transmitter specifically engineered for measuring viscous, paste-like, adhesive, crystallising, particle-laden, and contaminated media — media that would irreversibly clog the narrow pressure channel of a conventional pressure transmitter.

Its defining feature is the flush process connection: all wetted parts are stainless steel, fully welded, and the measuring diaphragm is integrated directly into the process wall — creating a dead-space-free, positive-sealed connection that enables CIP cleanability and accurate measurement of even the most challenging media.

Yes. The S-11 has internal potentiometers for zero point (±5% of span) and span (±5% of span) field adjustment. This allows compensation for process-specific offsets without returning the instrument to the factory. Adjustment is available for all electrical connection types (DIN angular, M12 circular, cable IP67) except the IP68 cable outlet version — the IP68 enclosure is sealed against water ingress and potentiometer access is not provided.

Without cooling element: vibration resistance 20g per IEC 60068-2-6 (under resonance); shock resistance 1000g per IEC 60068-2-27 (mechanical). With cooling element: vibration 10g; shock 400g. The standard (no cooling element) S-11 is exceptionally shock-resistant at 1000g — making it robust for filling machinery, production line vibration, and pulsating pump systems found in food processing and chemical dosing environments.

G½B flush and G1B flush: wetted parts in 316Ti stainless steel. G1B Hygienic flush: 316L stainless steel with surface roughness Ra ≤0.76 µm (meets 3-A Sanitary Standard cleanability requirements). Internal pressure transmission medium: synthetic oil (standard) or FDA 21 CFR 178.3750 food-compatible fill fluid (option for food and pharma). Sealing materials are available in NBR, FKM/FPM, EPDM, and FFKM — selected per media, temperature, and pressure requirements.

The S-11 meets EMC Directive EN 61326 for emission (Group 1, Class B) and interference immunity (industrial application). WIKA notes that strong electromagnetic fields in frequency ranges below 2.7 GHz can result in increased measuring errors of up to 1%. To avoid this, do not install S-11 in the vicinity of strong electromagnetic interference sources such as radio transmitters or high-power equipment. If unavoidable, use sheath current filters on the signal cable.

The flush diaphragm of the S-11 integrates directly into the process pipe or vessel wall with zero dead space. During CIP cleaning cycles, the cleaning agent contacts the entire internal pipe surface uniformly — including the diaphragm — without residue pockets or shadow zones. This is particularly important in food and pharmaceutical production where media changes must leave no cross-contamination. The 3-A Sanitary version (G1B Hygienic) with Ra ≤0.76 µm surface finish and EPDM seals ensures full CIP and SIP compatibility.
