What Is the WIKA A52.100/4 & R52.100/4 Bimetal Thermometer?
The WIKA Model 52 is an entry-level industrial bimetal thermometer built to EN 13190, offering a stainless steel case and stem with accuracy class 1 at the 100 mm nominal size — the dial most commonly specified for panel and pipe-mounted process monitoring across machine building, vessel, piping and HVAC applications.
The /4 suffix identifies WIKA's design-4 connection: a compression fitting that slides freely on the stem, so the insertion length is set on installation rather than fixed at the factory. The A52.100/4 is the back (axial) mount, with the stem exiting directly behind the case; the R52.100/4 is the lower (radial) mount, with the stem exiting 90° below the case through an aluminium elbow.

Connection Design 4 — Compression Fitting (Sliding on Stem)
Insertion length l₁ is variable and set during installation; overall length L = l₁ + 40 mm. A sealing ring at the fitting maintains the process seal once tightened.

Not strictly, for low-pressure, low-viscosity, low-flow applications — but a thermowell is generally recommended so the thermometer can be exchanged or calibrated without interrupting the process.
