Water hammer is a pressure surge caused by rapid valve closure, pump start/stop, or sudden flow changes in water pipelines. The resulting pressure spike can momentarily reach 5–10 times the normal system pressure — far exceeding the 2× overload rating of a standard sensor like the O-10 (T). The O-10 (5)'s 5× overload safety absorbs these spikes without diaphragm damage or calibration shift.
